Visa - is a mark in the passport, which allows entrance or travel through the territory of the country, issuing this visa.

Validity of visa depends on the invitation, which is the background for visa issuance.

The invitations can be of the following types:

- business (from foreign organization to Ukrainian organization);
- private (from foreign citizen);
- guest (from the Ukrainian citizen, which is delegated abroad for a long period, to his compatriot);
- tourist (trips for rest, healthcare, short-termed education, participation in international sport competitions, participation in business workshops).

Depending on the type of invitation, different types of visa are issued:

Transit visa
Issued in case if you travel through the territory of one or several states (transit) and where you have validated visa. Period of validity: 1-5 days. Allowed number of entrances to the territory: 1 or 2.

Short-term visa
issued in case you travel to the country for rest, shopping, business, visiting of relatives, etc, period of validity I no more 90 days. It can be single (one entrance allowed) or multiple (several entrances allowed).

National long-term visa
Issued by the embassy of the correspondent country in case for different reasons (work, study, existence of spouse, who is the citizen of foreign state etc.) you age going to stay in the country more that 90 days. It provides possibility of multiple entrances.

Airport transit visa
issued when you travel through several African and Asian states (transit) – Afghanistan, Zaire, allows only staying at the territory of international transit zone of the airport of this state and does not allow entrance to the territory of the state. It does not refer the citizens of Ukraine and other CIS states.

The possibility of visa issuance is considered individually in each case. Each embassy has its requirements.

Travel abroad is possible only with the foreign passport (besides Russia). Still for most states besides foreign states the visa issuance is needed.

Shengen visa – is the single entrance document, which allows visiting every state of Shengen Agreement, but with obligatory participation of the country, which embassy issued this visa.

The states of Shengen Agreement *: Belgium, Spain, Germany, Austria, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Sweden, Luxemburg, Denmark, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Norway and Finland, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Malta, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland + Liechtenstein.

States with visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens*: Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Armenia, Georgia, Ecuador (up to 3 month of staying), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Malaysia (up to 30 days of staying), Moldova, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Tajikistan

In several states (for example, in Dominican Republic, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Malta, Namibia, Nepal, UAE, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka) entrance visas can be obtained at the arrival place.
